Twas the day after Black Friday, and the mantel was bare. The fall decor was tucked away for another year, and traditional nutcrackers were dancing through my head. After a quick trip to Joann Fabrics, and loading up the shopping cart to the BRIM with nutcrackers in ALL sizes, I started decorating the mantel. I am not the decorating guru when it comes to mantels, but when you know what you like, it makes it MUCH easier.
After laying greenery on the mantel, I added some lights, sparkly ornaments and JOY.
Beads, bows and snowflakes too.
Placed some mixed nuts in a candle holder, and topped it with a sweet little guy. I was inspired by this idea on a blog last year and tucked the idea away for this year.
I bought the snowflakes on sale last year, and spray painted them gold for the display.
"Planted" a nutcracker in a Les Fleurs box that I brought in from the garden, and he's hanging out on the shelf next to the mantel.
Lastly, two large nutcrackers guarding the fireplace. Don't worry....we move the Christmas stockings when we use the fireplace to cozy up the room ;o)
TODAY I'M VERY MERRY FOR......
- The Command adhesive strips that I found at Home Depot near the Christmas decor. Great for hanging wreaths, mini lights, garland, etc. And they remove cleanly from the wall, and the hooks can be used again and again!
- The beautiful salad plates that Mr. Mountain Breaths surprised me with...they will be showing up in an upcoming post.
- Our sweet neighbor that has offered to share some of her outdoor holiday decor with us! Our front yard (and neighbors) will be lovin the sparkly trees for the holiday season.

Your mantel is beautiful! I have always loved the nut crackers, but have never owned one.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous mantel! Looking forward to more. xo
ReplyDeleteDebbie, your mantel looks full of sparkle and joy. For years I enjoyed a collection of nutcrackers that others had given me through the years. Once we moved into our current home, I really didn't have a spot for them. I gifted them to a niece who now has them. Your guys are really cute! ~ Sarah
ReplyDeleteBeautiful mantel, Debbie. I'm anxious to see the salad plates!
ReplyDeleteSo festive and colorful - love it. My husband want to take me to Skaneateles for my Birthday dinner this sunday...then tonight he said "we probably should go to Aurora to see the MC farmhouse all decorated for dinner"! Was I surprised....this will cost him LOL

ReplyDeleteEvery year at Christmas-time I wish I had a mantel. Our fireplace is a ceiling to floor Lannon stone wall which wraps around a corner with stone shelves. Sort of contemporary (for the 50s, I guess).
ReplyDeleteLove what you did with your mantel, Debbie!
Your mantel is so magical! I love it and you have done a wonderful job on it! YOu have the most fab collection of nutcrackers! :) It should be in a magazine.
ReplyDeleteBe a sweetie,

ReplyDeleteYour mantel looks so festive and lovely! What great ideas you have there. The nutcrackers are my favorite. Beautiful photos, thanks for sharing. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteLove your nutcracker mantel ... it looks so much like my nutcracker mantel from the last two years ... from the little nutcrackers perched on the nuts ... the "JOY" in the middle ... the fun, big bows ... gold snowflakes and the gold beaded garland! What fun ... I'm truly flattered! *Becca* from Adventures in Decorating

Your mantel looks beautiful, Debbie! I love the nutcrackers. I love the way you added the stockings, too.
ReplyDeleteIt looks great Debbie! I haven't done mine yet, still doing outside.
ReplyDeleteI guess you will now be a nutcracker collector! I have salt and pepper shakers and mugs, but I never got into the nutcrackers. That's a good thing, I need to purge the decorations!
Hope you had a good Seasonal Sunday! :)
You found all the nutcrackers at JOANNE!!!! Wow, I will remember that for next year:) Your mantle looks fabulous! XO, Pinky
